Santoprene Thermoplastic Rubber for your Flexible Cable Needs

Santoprene is a thermoplastic rubber with santopreneenvironmental resistance comparable to general purpose EPDM rubber compounds and fluid resistance comparable to general purpose polychloroprene rubber compounds, providing a unique combination that lends itself to a broad range of applications.

Temperature: Cables jacketed with Santoprene offer a service temperature range from -60 to 135C (-81 to 275°F) without cracking. Excellent heat aging combined with resistance to oil and grease provides outstanding durability.

Durability: Santoprene® has excellent resistance to cut growth while flexing, high tear strength and excellent resistance to fatigue, and good resistance to many acids, bases and aqueous solutions.

Flexibility: Santoprene® has a broad range of durometers to meet individual customer’s needs. General purpose grades are suitable for most applications. Flame retardant grades meet Underwriters Laboratories requirements and can achieve a UL 94 V-0 or UL 94 HB rating.

Non-Halogenated /Flame Retardant Polyurethane Jacketing Material

Q-S Technologies, Inc. offers one of the most durable non- halogenated / flame retardant Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (NHFR TPU) available for end-use markets. This -halogen, flame-retardant material delivers the durability, flexibility and abrasion protection characteristics of TPUs,santoprene while providing premium flame resistance for a broad end-use market.

Cable jacketing made from the V-O rated, 90 Shore A, polyether TPU has been approved by the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) to protect control cables in one of the world’s largest mass transit systems. Non- Halogenated Flame Retardant Polyurethane NHFR TPU key features include:

  • Halogen-free
  • Flame retardancy
  • Low smoke generation
  • Superior abrasion resistance.

The robust properties of this and many other TPUs exceed the BSS-7271 Type 1 standard to provide the ultimate in durable protection. NHFR TPU also delivers significant assembly and finish cost advantages over alternative materials.
